Privacy policy
Last updated 5 November 2026
This policy explains what personal information is collected when you use trevorbotha.org, buy a book, book a coaching session or contact me, and how my own publishing tools use the social media accounts I connect to them. I keep it short because I collect very little.
Who is responsible. Trevor Botha is responsible for your information under South Africa’s Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Contact: contact@trevorbotha.org.
Visiting this website
This website sets no cookies, runs no analytics or advertising trackers and has no sign-up or contact forms of its own. Like every website, the hosting service (Google Firebase Hosting) briefly records technical details such as your IP address and browser type to deliver pages and keep the site secure. The site’s fonts are loaded from Google Fonts, which also receives your IP address when a page loads. See Google’s privacy policy.
Buying a book or making a payment
Payments are handled by PayFast (Pty) Ltd. You enter your card or banking details on PayFast’s pages, never on this website, and I never see them. PayFast sends me a payment confirmation with your name, email address, the amount and what you bought. I use these only to email your book, keep records required for tax and accounting, and help you if something goes wrong. See PayFast’s privacy policy.
Booking a coaching session
Bookings are made through Cal.com, shown on the Coaching page. Cal.com collects the name, email address and any notes you give when booking, and shares them with me so I can hold the session. The booking is added to my personal calendar. See Cal.com’s privacy policy. What you share in coaching stays confidential between us, unless the law requires otherwise or someone is at risk of serious harm.
Emailing me
If you email me, I keep your message and email address so I can reply and help you. I don’t add you to any mailing list unless you ask me to.
My publishing tools (YouTube, Facebook, Instagram)
I use a private desktop app, “AI Video Editor”, to schedule and publish my own videos, quote images and posts to my own YouTube channel, Facebook Page and Instagram account. It is not offered to the public. When I connect an account, the app receives permission to upload and publish content to that account and to read basic account details, such as the channel or Page name, so it can show which account it is posting to.
- The app runs only on my own computer. Sign-in permissions are stored there, encrypted, and are not sent to me or anyone else.
- It does not read, collect or store information about viewers, followers, subscribers, commenters or anyone else.
- It uses YouTube API Services. By using YouTube you agree to the YouTube Terms of Service, and Google’s handling of data is covered by the Google Privacy Policy.
- Access can be removed at any time: for Google and YouTube at myaccount.google.com/permissions, and for Facebook and Instagram under Settings → Business integrations. Disconnecting in the app also deletes its stored permission.
- Meta’s handling of data is covered by the Meta Privacy Policy.
The app’s use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Sharing, storage and how long I keep it
I don’t sell or rent personal information, and I share it only with the services named above, which do the work for me, or where the law requires it. Some of these services store data outside South Africa, under their own privacy safeguards. I keep purchase records as long as tax law requires (currently five years), and other information only as long as I need it to help you.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, have it corrected or deleted, or object to how it is used. Email contact@trevorbotha.org and I’ll respond within 30 days. If you’re not satisfied, you may complain to the Information Regulator of South Africa (inforegulator.org.za).
Changes
If this policy changes, I’ll update the date at the top of this page.
